Just do it!
I was delighted with the turnout at the first ever Smarter Financial Planning webinar, which took place last week. For those of you who weren’t able to make it, don’t worry, you can watch a re-run here.
There was a last-minute technical hitch with the video, so apologies for those people expecting to see us! Despite that, the feedback has been brilliant, with many people asking follow-up questions and wondering when the next one is - more on that coming soon...
One of the many points made so well during the webinar was from Ben Kumar, who kindly described 7iM’s investment views and how these are positioned within your pension and investment portfolios. He talked about how there’s always something to worry about – from 9/11 to Black Monday to Covid-19. In fact, it would be strange if there wasn’t something happening in the world to cause concern in the markets.
One of the things I try and do is encourage people to take action. There’s never a perfect time – whether it’s deciding when to have a family, change career or retire. There are still people waiting to enter the market until Brexit has settled, or until the pandemic is over. There’s always a reason to put it off – and sometimes this is easier.
However, leave it too late, and the boat will have sailed. Sometimes it’s having someone who can take you to task and say ‘Just do it’ can be just what’s needed. I’d rather clients do something rather than nothing. As the old saying goes, what’s the worst that can happen?
Although I’m one to talk. I ran my first marathon in 2012, and ever since then I’ve been thinking of having a tattoo to commemorate it – 9 years later and I still haven’t!
Someone, tell me to Just do it!
